 2008年北京奥运会，董方卓在对阵新西兰的比赛中攻入中国队在奥运正赛的历史第一球，帮助中国国奥1-1逼平新西兰。 董方卓的进球既是中国队在奥运决赛圈的第一球，也是迄今为止的唯一一个进球。自2008年奥运会之后，中国国奥已连续无缘4届奥运会正赛。
